Category: Let's talk
It may or may not be apparent to some that I am no longer a member of the zone staff. I have decided to resign my position as a cl for a number of reasons. Things in RL have kept me sufficiently busy that logging into the sight has no longer been a priority for me, and although now things are calmer, if I'm honest, I've no longer felt the inclination to log in here. I therefore decided that it was time that I step down as a cl.
I've been a cl for three years and have enjoyed my time here and working with the other staff, but I feel that my heart just isn't in it any more.
I am obviously still here to help out in any way I can, both with the staff and with user queries, I just don't want to have to commit here any more.
Hello Claire,
I'm actually sorry to see that you've resigned! Though it was rare that I've had direct contact with you, through my observation, you have the gift of being speaking your mind, while remain faire and diplomat... Good luck in your future goals, and you will be hard to replace.
Kim
Claire, I am sorry to see you go, but I completely understand your reasons. They closely mirrored mine when I stepped down in 2011. I also really respect you for stepping down when you knew you were too busy, and that you didn't have the heart for it anymore. Others would certainly do well to follow your example. Your resignation is the Zone's loss, but I'm glad for you.
Hi Clairre.
I respect your decision to resign. As it has been said above, you did excellent. You had a lot of great insight when it came to specific topics and often made me walk away thinking about something differently. Not only that, but you stuck up for what you believed was right, and it wasn't because you were friends with someone. It was what You thought was right. Keep that up.
I do hope to hear from you every so often so please stay in contact. Good luck to you.
Ryan
I will say this on the playing favorites issue. Everyone wants to be unbiased, nobody is. Everyone wants to think they don't play favorites, but we all do. This I realize, and am glad I only had one kid for that reason: I'm as human as anyone else and I'm sure there would have been times for one reason or another I would have favored one over another.
All this to say, I never saw the favorites issue, but you're human, too, and obviously tried to do better, which is all any of us really can do. Anyone who has been in leadership somewhere for long enough will get biased for and against people and policies, it happens. The best we can do is lessen it as much as possible. But we all do it to one degree or another.
I'd say Claire did pretty darn well at not playing favorites, at least that's been my take. For that Claire, I respect you.
She is one of the few that didn't play favourites.
Clair definitely didn't play favorites at all. I don't know you well at all, but I'm sorry to see you go. You've done a lot for this site, for the 8 or so years I've been here, on staff and off, and I think it's damn good of you to know your limits and realize and be open about the fact that your heart's not in it. That, honestly, speaks volumes as a person. Good luck with everything Miss, and thank you for all you've done for us.
Thanks for all you have done for the site, Claire. In my mind, you were the most fair and honest CL. It definitely shows strength of character to step away when you know that time and inclination just are no longer there. Take care.
I wrote on the wrong topic guys, my apologies. My words had been meant for Doug and no I have personally not known anyone to do that on here, it is just a commonly placed accusation to anyone in leadership. Doug happening to have been the most recent target, and I having made a fumble and posted that response to Claire's resignation topic instead.
My apologies, Claire.
I can't believe SB was a CL for 3 whole years. How time flies.
